Giddiness - Why I am Starting a Travel Blog (Part 2 of 3)

When I exclaim that I love to travel, I mean I reeeaaaallllyyy love to travel! I experience so many emotions when I plan a new trip: anticipation, excitement and… fear.

It’s kinda like summer love. You know that giddiness you feel when you’re dating someone new and you’re unquestionably attracted to them? I feel that excitement when I’m researching different locations and places to stay.

Finalizing my arrangements are like making plans for the date. I will read many, many reviews in hopes to find the best place to stay that has a good balance of amenities and ambiance, while being within my budgetary range.

Sometimes, I need a cheap getaway just to feel sand underneath my feet.

Other times, I just want to splurge a little and legitimately treat myself for a job well done personally or professionally.

Once reservations are made, I experience anticipation and anxiety all at the same time.

If it’s a new place, I’m asking myself, “Am I really going to like it? Did I make the right choice?”

If it’s a place I’ve stayed before I’m like, “Is it going to be as good as the first time I was there? Should I have gone some place new?”

Eventually, I will get over the fear of making the wrong choice, trust my gut and count the days until I get to experience that love again.

Packing for the trip is like getting dressed for the date. Narrowing down my “options” and packing efficiently is still a work in progress, but I’m getting there. Bottom line, I bring items that make me feel glow-y and beautiful, whether I’m dressed up or dressed down.

Travel day is the day of date. All that preparation finally comes together and I know that I will see my love soon.

When I get to the destination, whether it’s getting out of a plane, train or automobile, I take a deep breath in, open my eyes, give a gorgeous smile and say, “Hi my love. I’m here!”

I get goosebumps just thinking about it!

I get into the ways travel has benefited my life in Part 3 - Gratitude!
